A 3A molecular sieve has an effective pore opening of about 0.3 nm (3 Å), which admits water molecules (approx. 0.28 nm) but excludes larger solvents like ethanol, methanol, or acetonitrile. Utilizing a 4A sieve for these solvents leads to co-adsorption of the solvent, causing rapid bed saturation, increased heat of adsorption, and potential product degradation.
Under typical operating conditions with adequate pre-filtration (to remove liquid water, heavy hydrocarbons, and compressor oils), a high-quality molecular sieve (like our JZ-ZMS series) will have an operational lifetime of 3 to 5 years. Severe thermal stress during regeneration or feed stream contamination can shorten this lifetime.
